The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot are two Canadian caregiver programs launched back in 2019. The program will be accepting new applications from January 1, 2024, at 9 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). With the help of these Care worker pilot programs, Canadian citizens who have newborns, school-age children, children who need special care, and seniors can hire someone from any part of the world with the labor market evaluation. This program not only allows you to come to Canada with your family but also opens a Sureshot pathway towards permanent residence after 12 months of working in Canada.
The care worker’s spouse will be awarded an open work permit, and school permit for children of school age. If they’re adults they also will be given a work permit. You just need to find someone who can offer you a care worker job in Canada. Once you receive a job offer, you will need to undergo a credential evaluation with WES and also should have an overall IELTS score of 5. Caregivers who meet all the requirements, but without 12 months of Canadian work experience will be awarded an occupation-restricted open work permit.
Both these 5-year programs allow you to come to Canada and become a permanent resident. The applications for the direct PR pathway and those who apply for PR after the experience will fall into two separate categories. The application fees start from $CAN 1,085. You and your family members can apply for the Direct to Permanent Residence category through the Home Support Worker Pilot or the Home Child Care Provider Pilot if you have relevant experience of 12 months. If you have experience of fewer than 12 months, you can apply for the Gaining Experience category.
Earlier it was 24 months of work experience to become eligible for the submitted application for the Home Support Worker Pilot or the Home Child Care Provider Pilot, not it has been reduced to 12 months. The applicant must submit proof of at least 12 months of Canadian full-time work experience within 36 months of receiving an Occupation-restricted open work permit ( OROWP ). Under the two pilot projects, it is expected that 5,500 applications will be accepted for new submissions in total in 2024.
