Through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), British Columbia, Alberta, and Prince Edward Island have sent out invitations to apply (ITAs) to people in several high-demand jobs.
Two of the most well-known PNPs in Canada are the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and the Alberta PNP, which is also called the Alberta Advantage Immigrant Program (AAIP). These programs help immigrants from a wide range of backgrounds, such as experienced business owners, skilled workers, foreign college graduates, and newcomers who live in or outside of their provinces.

Note: The provincial and territorial governments run their PNPs with different score systems, so it’s not fair to compare them.
Vancouver Island, BC
ITAs were sent out by the BCPNP this week through its Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams. These lines include the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option. These tracks are designed to attract foreign students with skills that are in high demand in British Columbia’s job market.
For skilled workers and international graduates in five high-demand job areas, the province gave out more than 200 ITAs. These areas were childcare (minimum score of 60), construction (minimum score of 75), healthcare (minimum score of 60), technology (minimum score of 108), and veterinary care (minimum score of 60). Here is a full list of all the jobs that people want to do in British Columbia.
Canada Alberta
Under the “Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with Alberta Job Offer” of the AAIP, Alberta sent 44 Notifications of Interest (ITAs) on February 6 to people with professional healthcare experience.
People who were invited had to have worked in healthcare in Alberta and had a job offer from an employer in the state, with a minimum score of 302.
Island of Prince Edward
In the PEI PNP, 121 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) were sent to people who wanted to work or enter the country through Express Entry.
To be considered for the job, candidates had to work for a PEI company and get an EOI score of at least 65. In the past year, the state has sent out 2,307 invitations to apply. Of these, 2,253 were sent to people applying for work or Express Entry, and 54 were sent to people with a business work permit.
Tips to Improve Your Chances of Getting an Invitation to the PNP
Many PNPs have special paths for people who already have ties to the province, like having graduated from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), getting a job offer, or having family in the province. However, all PNPs focus on in-demand jobs that match the needs of the local job market.
So, people who want to move to Canada might do well to match their job skills with those that are needed in certain provinces or territories. This strategic alignment emphasizes the main goal of PNPs across the country, with provinces actively promoting in-demand jobs to draw immigrants who can help with critical labor shortages.
By 2025, PNPs are expected to take over from Express Entry as Canada’s main way to bring in new immigrants. This shows how important they are to the country’s overall economic plan.
